. we miss kalkbreite 4 already. may this freespace live on in our collective memory as the friendly and welcoming place and workspace it always was, at least to me (sorry, us). thanks to the sensational Ex-Best Friends to share the intimate moment of saying good-bye last friday. you rule and I am glad you saw the place before it got tore apart. sniff.
on to more positive news: we're looking for gigs in germany for the following dates: august 4./5./7./8. thanks for any help, preferably in d.i.y. offspaces or cellars.

whoa, two months no post. that's embarassing. or maybe we just don't have anything to say that can't be expressed in music. whatever the reason may be: we played some shows since we're back and they were all pretty ok, I think. hugs to everyone who showed up, especially the overly nice folks in lucerne. you. are. amazing.
next one up: birthday gig at kalkbreite in zurich.

"UK, Scotland, France, Belgium, tht must be a hell of a ride..", you say? ummm, yes it is. long long long drives: check this link for a routing idea. it's there where you might also find a small hint why "4473 is 2779" could be the tour title. insane. and fun!
|
30-07-2009
with less than a month to go until our UK/Scotland tour, we are already pretty damn excited. not so mother earth, though, cause this trip will easily leave her with the CO2 equivalent of a 3500 km drive. ouch. anyways, it will be of great fun and good times, we believe. pop by if you live in the region, ok? check the shows department for details.
|
15-05-2009
who's in the mood for gigs? we are. next two shows are TODAY, 15.6.2009 at Boschbar w/ danish plunders MIMAS and on FRIDAY, 19.6.2009 at gowa halle's summerfest in lucerne.
|
19-05-2009
heyya. we are booing our UK tour for august/september this year. if you live in the region step in contact! we'd love to play your city! there are still 3 nights open (26./27./29.8) and we are four nice people in desperation, so you better take advantage, bro.

with this year's M4Music coming up next weekend, it is once again time to make some thoughts about the mess called the "music industry". a strange term, because it began to evolve into an entertainment industry with videoclips and monstershows and artist-xyz-alarm clocks and all since day one. as far as I conceive it, the music industry stopped caring about music a looooong time ago and turned their heads to more profitable fields such as merchandising and copyrights. at the end of the day, the main thing the industry is interested in seems to be a good turn-over, to be able to hand out big dividends to all the shareholders who finance the company and who care less than shit about music. and that's what makes them putting stuff out with only one criterium to be met: sales. it's sad old capitalism waving at us, only with music in his hands as commodity.
keeping the music industry alive as it is today means to keep alive hierarchies in favour of the group with the financial power, and explicitly not the creative forces. this is so wrong, I don't even dare to ask if it was worth trying it. in this context, it seems also a bit weird, to do your utmost to ameliorate circumstances for the thriving music industry: serve them with newcomers, push bands in the direction of viability for the current shortest-term oriented market etc. etc. in the end, these efforts only help keeping the fat well-fed.

yesaya, we're back from our little germany trip. a kazillion thank yous go out to: björn, tillmann, conny & andreas, all the chefs and housekeepers and of course all the great bands we had the honour to share a floor with: dying in motion, mock, zosch!, radio burroughs, and reject.
yesaya two: we're playing this monday (16.3.09) at the best of all bars: bosch bar together with friendly zOSCH! from cologne.

excellent news! the rabbit theory will turn into a rabbit plague for south america in May. buenos aires-based label distroiart will release a selection of what we recorded so far on tape. stay tuned for more info, coverart and stuff...
more excellent news! this one's for people in great britain: amazing distro/mailorder strictly no capital letters will stock all of our available records in somewhat a week or so.
more excellent news! german ur-fanzine trust will be printing a review of our new album and split-7".
|
13-01-2009
I know some of you out there are only interested in music. when it comes to records, I personally am kind of into the whole package: the record itself, the cover, the materials used, the lyricsheets.. it all together makes a record, not only the music. however, for the environmentally progressive people, we'd like to offer our music naked. our albums are part of the internet archive, where you can download them for free.
new! the rabbit theory "save/cancel"
still hot! the rabbit theory "thanks but no thanks" you can still buy those records (on vinyl and on CD), if you want to. it will be greatly appreciated...

oh, yeah: I totally forgot to mention, that all the records are here now and so are some mp3s. split 7"es on sweet white vinyl, LPs on black vinyl, CDs in handscreened cardboard covers. support, if you feel like it, thanks. I think it's needless to say, but still: if you buy the LP, you'll get the mp3s for free, too. even if you buy a CD, so you don't even have to rip that shit yourself. |
30-12-2008
old year nearly gone, new one sooo close to being here, we wanted to give a couple thousand kudos to everyone who came to a show or set up a show for us this year, everyone who cooked dinner or let us sleep on his/her floors. more kudos go to everyone who bought or traded records and/or fanzines. the most kudos go to christian, though, who was kind enough to jump in on bass for two years: you rule supreme. we hope we can still play one or two songs in a set with him. however, since he's going to be a dad soon, this'll have to wait. more kudos? nope. we won't thank markus who played the second (or first?) guitar during these two years. why's that, you ask? it's because he's still on board, that's why. |
08-12-2008
just in: the records as well the CDs are here! this is sort of a primer, since we NEVER managed to have records produced on time. and most probably, the split 7"es will be here, too on saturday. excitement, excitement! oh yeah, and come to the release show, if you will. saturday, 13.12. at mars-bar in zurich. it's gonna be hot and sweaty, I promise. |
17-11-2008
first of all my heartfelt apologies for not having had the split 7"es with us on Firday. the ressing plant fucked it up royally. I am really sorry for this. secondly THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing up and making this one of the better nights this year. I hope you all show up for the album release show an 13.12.2008 at Marsbar. this will be the last show with our interims-lineup, by the way. |
25-10-2008
ok, i am sure this is the longest time we didn't post anything and, damn, i am sorry. however, at least we can say we were busy. a little. first of all, the record is ready to be pressed. it will reach the pressing plants next week and should be back for the releaseshow in very early december. the CDs will be handscreenprinted, the LPs not, because they don't need a brush up: vinyl rocks already, hehe.
in other news, we are proud to say that we made the 'mp3 of the day' over at it's a trap, with our coverversion of Björn Kleinhenz' song 'Krokås'.
why is that so cool? well, it's a trap focuses on scandinavian music only. and yet we made it. skitkul som fan, as the Swede says.
in sort of the bad news section, i have to say that the split-7"es with Mr.Willis Of Ohio, Yakari and Dying in Motion are not here yet. our pressing plant has some jams to master, apparently. however, the told me it'd be here in 2 weeks. LP and CD will take about three weeks.

09-07-2008
back from austria with a smile. we met tons of good people, nearly had two accidents, ate a lot of unhealthy raststätten snacks and played some quite reasonble shows, I'd say. a hearty thank you to everyone involved making this possible. and I finally met thomas reitmeyer, austria's d.i.y. pope. good times!
|
16-06-2008
alright-y. our new album is - tadaa - recorded. there's only one voice in two songs missing (that'll be recorded tomorrow) and then it's off to the mixing board in leeds, uk. 11 songs in merely two days. thank yous go out to: géri for the equipment, sabine for the computer, jörg for pressing the buttons and being critical ("your guitar is out of tune!"), marco for the headphones and karen for letting us basically camp in the room/studio.
|
06-06-2008
what's up with the rabbit theory? this is up:
a) we're hitting the road again. this time, we'll check out the far east, namely austria and even more specifically klagenfurt, graz, vienna and linz. check the shows section for details.
b) june 13/14/15 is recording time! we are about to smash 11 songs down in these three days plus one rather bizarre coverversion of björn kleinhenz' song 'krokås'.
what does that mean? that means records are coming up! the album is called "I Will Not Buy This Record, It Is Scratched" and there will be vinyl and maybe CDs, available through quiet records. also, there's gonna be a 3-way split 7" called "Pick Three, Get The Whole Scene" with mr.willis of ohio, dying in motion. eventually, our talented friends in yakari
are also going to be part of this, we'll see. |
02-06-2008
thanks a whole damn lot to the denk:mal people in berne. although I was pretty absorbed with a nasty cold, I couldn't have possibly enjoyed it more to play this beautiful basement. extra nice food, extra nice people, extra nice house (despite it's in a former slaughterhouse complex) and an extra extra extra nice audience. thank you very, very much! TRT <3 berne, that's for sure. also cool: the voting results. all the illogical crap got cut. fascinating. and about time.. |
20-05-2008
ok, i am stupid. in fact, i have to admit that it takes A LOT of stupidity to forget that we record a new album and that we consequently have to play a release show with it. however, it takes a mountain of stupidity, to forget that only this very show will be the last one as a four-piece. i am really, deeply sorry for fooling anyone in this, but believe me: sometimes, i just forget to think and when i wrote that last post, was one of these not-so-bright moments. in between, we then thought, we could play some more shows, since the four-piece deadline is now set back a little. that's why we play in bern on 30.5. at denk:mal and probably a small austria tour in the end of june. stay tuned for more details on the austria tour. and come to berne! |
05-05-2008
hey there. big news: original bass-bronco joerg has found his way back to zurich. that is both good and sad news, because it scrams for dissolving of the rabbit theory as it used to be throughout the last one and a half years. I personally knew from the beginning that this would suck. however, that it sucks so bad and that ratio never wins over emotional perspectives, is surprisingly achy. to celebrate the good times we had as a quartett - on tour as much as during countless rehearsals in a very very cold basement - we play two more shows as a four-piece. please come and celebrate with us. it would ease the pain. huge hugs to christian and markus who made this whole thing possible. priceless! |
15-04-2008
long time no update. terribe. i am well aware and totally ashamed. however, if you still would like to talk to us: we need a show for the 9.5.2008. it could be eastern france or southern germany or western austria or northern switzerland. as always, it's about vegan food, sleeping places for four and maybe some gas money... |
04-03-2008
good news for the day after my dad's birthday (happy birthday, dad!): we still have records. so if you'd like to get one, just write an email or post something in the "bla" section. hot off the press and hot on the shelves: "thanks! reflections!" our anthology tape containing close to everything we ever recorded. yellow tapes, handnumbered to 100 beautiful pieces, coming |
22-02-2008
heyya. thanks for popping by on wednesday. the finale was really worthwhile. there's no place like home, so to say. so, give yourself a hand for this. we should be playing in april again in zurich. if you have a basement youself, where we could play, let us know, ok? gracias! |
18-02-2008
so we're back from touring europe's finest basements and can't help but saying how awesome it was. sadly enough we missed the crucial band fight in the van, but apart from this, everything was very very VERY nice, thanks to nice organisers (steffi&eric (halle), felix&jenny (dresden), stefan&karo (berlin), ronny (HH), lars&mareike&pedram (bielefeld-kickers!), dries&stan (antwerp), maja&kaspar (maastricht), nora&katharina (FFM binge drinkers), and last but not least daniel (münchen). we owe you for good shows, fantastic foods literally everywhere and nice floors/mattresses. it's good to see that d.i.y. is still growing! if you're in zurich these days, come to the homecoming show on wednesday 20.2. at kalkbreite-squat to hear some boring stories about long hours on the autobahn. |
25-01-2008
slowly, we fill up all our holes for the upcoming show. 3 more to go! check the shows section in the meantime... |
21-01-2008
yay! played our first show in the new (in between) line-up. went pretty okay, I think. and the venue was ACE, an old 4 room flat in baden. super cool. nice food and overtly friendly people. the best thing though is, that stefan of mr.willis of ohio turned 30 which means that at least someone is even older than me. ha! (no, I don't have age-issues..) thanks for coming by to those who did, we had a great time. |
15-01-2008
party time, excellent! heyya wayne's and garths of this unhuman world, what's up? we're getting ready for our little tour and are excited excited excited to see you and the kazillion kilometres of autobahn between you guys. I think we are deepening our carbon footprint by a mere ton of CO2. niiiice. oh, I made a new fotozine. it's about pissing. want one? CHF 3.- and it's yours, no strings attached... |
17-12-2007
so, I decided to stop apologizing here, since every post starts the same way. so, hi there. we're going on tour again in february (8.-16.2.2008) and we still have open days/nights. to be more exact, the nights 9./10./11./12. are still open, so if you want four friendly peeps playing at your place, let us know as soon as possible. (nino [AT] quiet [DOT] ch). we need vegan food and a place to sleep and some gas money if possible. thanks! apart from this: we'll play a totally new set, no old songs, all fresh for your delight. |
04-10-2007
ok, here we go again. sorry for not updating, but I am in a pile no, a mountain of stuff right now, which will clear by 17.10., then I'll be free again. anyways, thanks for popping by. we're about to play shows again, which will last maybe 20 minutes, but we're working on it, so if you ned a support act or four clowns: we're the guys you're looking for. oh, yeah, we've got a new date fixed: on saturday 16.2.2008, we'll play in munich again. this time the venue is "glocke". (thanks daniel). come by, say hello. |
30-05-2007
whoa, long time no updates. I'm sorry for this but I have a lot around my ass right now, so: please forgive me (think the bryan 'monkeyboy' adams song)the record is out now you can get i basically everywhere if you want to support a shop, then do so. if you buy it at quiet records, it's gonna be (way) cheaper and you support this very nice label. it's up to you really, bottomline is: buy a copy, please. other than that and also very exciting: we upgraded to a four-piece now, as markus (of d.i.m.) managed to squeeze his ass between ours. we've got six songs so far and will 4-track these some time soon. it sounds a bit different, more voluminous and not so trimmed but this might change again, so just keep visiting this page and you'll find out.ok, gotta go. bye. oh, if you're interested in (swedish) twee and indiepop, tune in this friday from 10 pm. on to my radioshow on radio lora 97.5 FM (zurich area). thanks. |
01-03-2007
heyya. our new record is on its way, believe me. I got the masters yesterday and they rock. the vinyl should be here on the 15th of March and I will take some of them with me to the metronome man show at boschbar on the 26th of March. that's a monday and I will start playing at around 23 hrs or so, being the first out of three acts. phil duke, whom I really like and run the radioshow "die vierspurshow" with (every first Monday of the month on radio LoRa 97.5 fm or www.lora.ch), is also playing, so be there. both the vinyl and the CD are 15 bucks, btw. |
19-02-2007
new song from new album up for download, my friends. go and check the music section. in other exciting news: we are rehearsing again, since I sort of decided to do my final exams in fall, so there's a bit of time to play some rock music in between. for this manner, we started to rehearese with the applicants for the bass section, and shaboom: it clicked with the first candidate already. since we don't like to outplay people against one another, we have to say "thank you very very much for applying" and "we're very very sorry" to dennis (who would've been the second applicant) and mrks (number three on the list of talented bassplayers). and then: HELLO CHRISTIAN!
we already wrote a super complicated song with him we can barely play flawlessly. we'll 4-track it as soon as possible and have you listening to it. deal? |
22-01-2007
big news, friends. our record is being professionally (..ooooh...) mixed right now by jeremy romagna, whom some of you might know from his works for 'life at these speeds' or the 'all girl summer fun band'. thanks to joerg who's sitting around and having a bud in good ol' san diego, we could chitchat and flipflop our way around our 'think global, act local' believes for once and send all the songs up to portland, oregon where they're being taken care of in the beautiful type foundry studios. we're super excited about this. now even more, since christian eberhard brought over some sparkling sketches of the cover of the record.. ok, ok. gotta go. |
12-12-2006
ok, so this has been a very extensive non-update. on the other hand, there's finally news. a) we finally recorded/finished our contribution for the "ape must not kill ape records" compilation called "this is my life" . it's called 'i don't trade', you can already listen to it on rupert's funny playground. it's exclusively on marianne's compilation, so please support her by buying a copy, once it's out. she's switzerland's d.i.y.-(s)hero and will kill you if you don't. b) we mixed/mastered a contribution for the tapesampler "DATH+NO3-" which is to be released on munich-based time as a color records. the song will be 'instead i grin'. this song will be Ã?- remixed and remastererd Ã?- on our upcoming minialbum as well. that's it. thanks for showing up at the 'alarma man' show. thanks for having bought shirts and music from us. |
14-10-2006
and again, I forgot something. berlin's own froggi records is doing an anthology of what we recorded so far! you can expect it to be released on tape only some time around january as well. is that awesome OR WHAT? yes, siree. |
14-10-2006
ok, so we played our last show in the original line-up. thats a bummer, although it's been a very fun night together with our beloved mates from dying in motion. thank you, sweeties. and thank you to everyone who showed up, which means 94 (!!) thank yous. as for now, we still enjoy our time with jörg doing some mixing and whatnot to have our record ready in january. january will be the earliest of times when we're doing gigs again. yes, there will be gigs in the future, albeit the original basser's (temporary) absence. so far, we got offers from munich and berlin. we'll let you know where and when exactly that's going to go down. in the meantime I recommend enjoying the last sunny autumn days, hugging your best friend and trying to stay positive, even if anything that kept your life somewhat stable seems to be breaking away as if it was built with bread and paste. I try to do so, too, so your in at least half-way good company. |
07-09-2006
i forgot to mention something crucial in the last post: we were recording some stuff again. acutally, you can substitute 'some stuff' with '8 songs in 11 straight hours'. that's quite something, I think. anyways, the pre-mixes are done by jörg 'the non-sleep-needing-thing-from-the-brakel-swamp' rieckermann in about 3 nights straight. this! guy! is! a! machine! probably this weekend, I'll do the vocals and then we're done with it. 2 songs go to compilations, 1 is a filmscore and probably all of them are to be found on a 12" entitled "thanks, but no thanks" (maybe, I just made that up..). cheers and come to grabenhalle tomorrow. (friday, that is) |
05-09-2006
interested in art? go visit my new favourite painter/crafter: saelee oh. from t h e evil country. |
01-09-2006
yes! new show added in st.gallen's own grabenhall! 8th of september, at probably 2130, that is. with die by design. brilliant. |
23-08-2006
update! i confused dates: our last show takes place on october 7, that's a saturday. |
21-08-2006
update! we wrote and recorded the score for christian eberhard's animation movie last saturday in a crazy 7.5 hour shift at the practice room. my ass! actually it has more of a song structure right now, but nonetheless sports a fresh modular feel. we'll see whether it's appreciated. I think so.
sad but true is the the following news: our homeground letzigrund is about to be taken down from tomorrow on. sniff.
however, I had some marvelous days, so let me reccomend you some musi I jhust discovered or rediscovered, that supported these feelings: - detachment kit. opst-hc/indie/emo-ish greatness from america
- cat power. just greatness from america
apollo, up!. for fans of early face to face stuff.
- tilly and the wall. plain jolly music.
- cursive's new album. rrroar!
see you in the meadows, friends!
I almost forgot: I'm bringing ALARMA MAN (swe) here! whoaaaaa! 15.11. at kalki! come and see! |
07-08-2006
more photos! a) taken by a tall (in fact: huge) guy called tk in munich's own kafé kult. check out here! b) taken by pascal on our flickr-page. and something more: our next and final show will be on the 7.10.2006 at josef102. be there! |
25-07-2006
for a constant update of pictures, check our flickr page. woohoo, web 2.0, here we are. in other news, recording will take place on the 1st and 2nd of september and, once again, we have only 2 days for 6 or 7 songs. |
25-07-2006
the show last night was right on the best show we ever played. thank you, everyone, to make it happen. even though we had to play second and pete the pirate squid played one hell of a terrific show, we had the best of time. thank you tomas, jürg, andreas, sämi and isa for setting it up. to sum it up: fantastic night. and, my ass, I love, I adore pete the pirate squid. thanks so much for the three days jana, ulli, felix, björn. great great fun it was. |
24-07-2006
something more. the next projects are: wrinting and recording a score for christian' eberhard's animated sketchbook, recording a song for 'ape must not kill ape' records-sampler, recording a song for a d.i.y. tape compilation in munich along 'pete the pirate squid', 'mr. willis of ohio' and more great bands by daniel, recording a couple songs for a split with 'pete the pirate squid', and finally, recording a cover version of the lemonheads' 'i'll do it anyway' for a compilation by 'squealing fans' in england. there's a lot to do, as you can see. be prepared...
thanks for dropping by at the gigs! you rock. |
24-07-2006
HELLO EVERYONE. we're back from touring germany and belgium for the last 10 days, we're glad we're here again. and yes, we totally hate each other now. lawsuits are filed, rifles are loaded, so come and see the very last show of this the rabbit theory tour with no name tonight at boschbar (at provitreff, sihlquai 240, that is). we're super excited to introduce the terrific band pete the pirate squid to zurich. I know I say that a lot, but this band is sincerely in my top 3 of live bands: female/mae singers backed by emo-math-core in all its greatness. and great lyrics on top of it. come and see.
ok, and now for the big thank you list, as we met alot of nice peeps on this tour:
steffi, utta and anne for keeping it up in halle and a perfect seitan-chili. we had the best start after 8.5 hrs driving. christian in hamburg for introducing us to this very interesting city of yours. astra, baby! mathias at mental maps in frankfurt for having us and keeping the torch burning, both in the radioshow (woohoo!) and in the nice basement. oh, and micha and kerstin for the shower. it was most necessary. michael in nossegem for the chips and the banana. a warm hug goes out to the people from the envers-zwa house in antwerp (cédric, dries and all the others I shame on me can't remember): you guys a re a fucking inspiration! we probably played our best show at your basement, despite the 40+ degrees. and hi adolina! you rock amazingly! this trip to belgium coulnd't have been done without the help of jeroen, an overall talent, as it seems, be it beer knowledge or drumming skills. our heyhey also to torsten from new noise festival which was something totally different and still great, great fun. not to speak of the good sleeping in the hotelroom, of course. then: mathias in munich: one heel of a night it was at kafé kult, a legendary autonomously driven venue. go there whenever you can to meet the nicest of people and best of bands. we'd also like to hello the 101 here. great talks, great songs. last night, we were very eager and happy to play the office in gossau for the second time. although we sucked a little (sorry for that), it was overwhelmingly good food again and a nice and cozy temper in there. I love you, ralph, for doing this.
of course, I have to thank the pascal and jörg, the other bandmembers, for making this possible. and for not killing me. and for all the driving while I sat in the back and read my book.
and thank to everyone who bought some of our 7"es, CD-Rs or T-shirts. we really appreciate it. |
27-06-2006
unstoppable d.i.y. machine ralph invited us to play beautiful office again. our reply? FUCK YEAH! taking place on 23.7., we're supa excited to do it again with pete the pirate squid. thanks, ralph! |
15-06-2006
I am very, very sad to pass on the news, that Louise, bass player with snitch, died last saturday not even 27 years old. whilst giving birth to her daughter annabelle she left the stage forever and sad enough, there's no encores this time.
I played some of my first shows in 'meal' together with snitch. I hereby want to send all my thoughts to them, annabelle, louise's husband martin and all the families involved.
I dearly hope you're fine where you are now, Louise. maybe we'll meet again and play provitreff for the same couple of punks and drunks as we did back in 96. that'd be fun.
nino. |
05-06-2006
30 long years is my brother alive. wowsers! and apart from this: there's only 2 dates missing for our tour. that's very exciting! |
31-05-2006

heyya. if you're into über-catchy live music from the emopop-sectors at welcoming venues, then hit the trains and get your ass over to gossau's own the office on 1.6.06. go and see issue sixteen from cana-duh, sort of filling the gap between cap'n jazz and saves the day. yeah, yeah, i know, sooo 2001... |
19-05-2006
updated germany-tourdates to be found at 'shows'. (what a surprise). so far, we're playing: münster (15.7.), leipzig (16. or 17.7.), frankfurt (18.7.), antwerpen (20.7.), münchen (22.7.). if you are somewhere in between these cities and dates and would like to have a concert in your basement with three nice and well-behaving guys, please, let us know. |

thanks for coming out last week to boschbar. plenty of fun it was despite the drummer having feverattacks and me a on antibiotics for a throat infection. I love modern times with illnesses all around. phew! yeah. so thanks for not shooting rotten vegetables at us. there's still some EPs (around 40) and 7"es (around 130 or so) on our shelves, so feel free to order one. |
04-04-2006
hey everyone, long time no see, I suppose. this makes for a literal news-post for once, though. we finally reached year 2001 and put up a guest book. click the new 'bla' link underneath to rave or rant or jus say hello. then, the lyrics have been updated, as well a the bio (only a likkle bit, though). that's about it, I guess. come to boschbar on 17.4., it's going to be fun, I promise.
something more: we try to summer-tour germany and belgium between the 17.7. and the 23.7. if you're interested in having us, (preferrably d.i.y./non-commercial venues, and cellars and stuff), please, drop a line
(song of the day: band of horses: 'the funeral') |

so we had the one of the best nights over at the office on saturday after having had to crawl through piles and piles of snow for solid three hours. and it was worth it every snowflake we crossed on our way. we played together with beautiful, sassy, intelligent, humurous, friendly, gifted pete the pirate squid from berlin/dresden in what is one of the nicest venues around. it's not full with fancy drinks, it doesn't sport a foosball table, no. but it has a heart and a soul so appealing, that I can't say anything but: go there every time you possibly can. really. ralph and chris who run the place deserve it. so yeah, call me a freak, but I'm in love with an office. and with pete the pirate squid. (best band around!)

good news! there's a mini-EP coming up! it's called "reflections on good behaviour" it sports four songs, of which two are previously unreleased, the other two are the ones that are already on the split-7" with dying in motion quiet records lately put out. the format will be CDR, the catalognumber is qr.017-CDR and it's limited and handnumbered to 50 pieces. you can buy it from us at shows or from quiet recs. being priced at only 5 bucks, it's not only good looking but also easy on the wallet! we bring it to our show in gossau SG this saturday (4.3.06). be there! |
13-02-2006
we ! had! airplay! unbelievable but true: one of the best radioshows around (not just because they played, that is..) radieschen played "where's your delorean now?" on radio RaBe, which is - as you might now - an alternative community radio based in berne. the overly friendly hostess said: "yeah, das gfaut mer im fau huere guet. sehr guet!".
*blush*
thanks muchly!
fyi: the broadcast plays only self-released or independent productions by swiss bands and/or labels. every other thusday from 21-23 hrs. check it out on le web international: radio rabe. thanks! |
01-02-2006
thanks for coming out last saturday. we didn't lose any money (wow!). we had a good gig despites the mass of mistakes (wow!) and in general had a ball. we hope you enjoyed the night, too. many thanks go out to the other bands: helpful dying in motion, overly intense, personally nice and interested mihai edrisch and the fantastic über-scenster-allstar team mr.willis of ohio, featuring two label-bosses and three gig-organisers in their line-up. buy our single over at quiet records |
28-01-2006
hey! two things for today: drop by tonight at kalkbreite 4 for our split 7" release fest, starting as early as 2200 (first band), we're playing from 2245. due to serious threats from the bass and drum section, the new song's offline again until there's a better recorded (and played, for that matter ) version. yewp, that's what "friends" do: threatening you.. |
26-01-2006
for those of you interested in globalization, its history and its effects (and I dearly hope that's everyone visiting this site) there's good news: the following site http://sql.uleth.ca/global/).offers videocasts of all the lectures on the topic held at the respective seminar which is called globalization since 1492. free and CC licensed in ipod video format, quicktime, or strictly audio. way to go, university of lethbridge! |

even more recommendations: i have a bad feeling for a very young band being as for gettng overly hyped. nonetheless, i luuurv their music and sound. go check them out for yourself: the delilahs. part veruca salt, part sonic youth, part spider and the webs (ok, spider and the webs was a lie, but that's a good band, too). well reduced and still the necessary bit of sleaziness in their songs. this could indeed grow. they play this friday at baden's merkker alongside fugo, who rock pretty bad, too. I remember leech (very good band from the mid-nineties) in them, probably for the guitars-grinding-down-everything feel. sort of metal-style parts as well over at fugo but nothing to be afraid of: no spandex stuff anywhere near.

19-01-2006
yo. for those of you interested in new music or what we do when we try to write new music: check the music section of this very homepage. we recorded an new song, tired of writing hours and hours and of memorizing the song the next time. that means: solid tascam portastudio 4-track burner quality. recorded using only three tracks and two micropohones! yessss.
there's mistakes and timing difficulties and stuff, but remember: 16 degrees, 0030 on a hard week's friday night.. now go and diwnload it, punk.
on other news: pretty girls make graves are about to make a new record, as well as tilly and the wall are. if unless you know these bands already, go and learn about them. you'll love them, I'm sure.
(records of the day: cat power 'the greatest' and anja garbarek's new record, especially the song 'the last trick'. wow!) |

our split-7" release is coming closer and closer: only 9 days left...check out the flyer below

long time no post, aye? sorry. we finished mixing and the songs have been sent out for mastering. no other than andreas tilliander is about to add some spice to the songs. we so hope we have the records in 28.1.06. other than that, jörg's in germany, pascal at home and I just played another solo concert in winterthur. what's the 'winter' in winterthur, you ask? I'll tell you: it's at sidi, the squat I played at. boy! barely 3 degrees in the showroom! I had to play fullly covered: jacket, scarf, beanie and still did not sweat a drop. very weird. and somebody even recognized the minor threat cover I played. smart kids there in winterthur.
well, so let's see you in january. thanks for having us or coming to the shows throughout this year. cheers!
(record of the day: mustafa & monique 'the houdini aubergine EP') |
28-11-2005
no news, sorry. I went to see bloc party the other day, though. opposing a review in an american fanzine, I did not think they were behaving arrogantly at all. in fact, I thought they were a good bunch having good fun playing their 9 somewhat songs, which I'm sure they can't hear anymore after this year. anyway. I still can nothing but recommend this band. good, catchy, edgy, yummy.
not so yummy is, that the local parlamentarian chamber (nationalrat) did not urge bundesrat to lay out strict rules, competences and the like for the swiss intelligence agency (inlandsnachrichtendienst). WTF? where have you been in the 50ies,60ies,70ies,80ies, when everyone with human beliefs (in IND (formerly called Bundespolizei or BUPO) lingo: leftist terrorists) was suspicious, got spied on and put under surveillance? if these intelligence/surveillance departments are not outlined properly, they get out of hand. that's a fact and there's more than one example for that, both nationally and internationally. let's not act like donkeys and put at least a leash on them. my ass, how short a memory can these people have? boy.
sorry, I initially wanted to write about music, but that's just too much.
oh, I lied, there is news, actually: our 7" is getting mixed by some good soul whose name I don't know. he called and asked. what a nice gesture, isn't it? it'll be mixed on the 10th, and sent to the pressing plant on the 16th. singletaufe takes place on 28.1.2006 at kalkbreite. yay!
(song of the day: jamie lidell 'multiply') |
16-11-2005
hiya. thanks for coming out last night. it was good fun, if a little uncrowded. but hey! it's a tuesday, right? anyway. we had a ball, despite the broken drumpedal and a ripped apart button. what am I going to tell the emo-police ? like, somebody stole my precious button? or, like, OMG, you know!
hehe. the songs for the split 7" are in the works.expect it to be out in late january.
(song of the day: electric light orchestra "strange magic" ..really. it has a one of a kind 'how embarrassing' chill down my spine to it...) |
28-10-2005
yay! vocals done, too. in herculanian 3 hours, 3 songs were shouted in a nice beta 58 microphone, provided by mr. help-a-lot goran. lyrics to be up soon, as well as (hopefully) new pics. we'll see.
(lyric of the day: jenny lewis 'you are what you love': "but more and more we're suffering not anyone, not a thousand beers will keep us from feeling oh so alone") |
24-10-2005
yes, friends. in an act of sheer insanity, we managed to get no less than 7 (s e v e n) songs on tape in one day. I guess the song for the 7" will be one of them. it's two songs re-recorded and five brand spanking new ones. we'll see what fits best. vocals are due to be done tomorrow. we'll keep you posted. as usual, all the songs are ending up here as well, but don't expect them too soon, as it's a hell of a job mixing them.
so, yeah. AND we've got another gig confirmed. on tuesday, 15.11. we'll play rote fabrik's own ziegel oh lac, one of the most welcoming places to play in zurich. exciting, folks, exciting! the other band on the bill is rather quiet from what I know. don't know them too well though. check out for yourself here |
13-10-2005
hiya. with joerg, bassplayer deleuze, sorry, deluxe on holidays, not much happened last month. we went to hit the strings with 'our' oldest band, meal. pretty funny it was, actually, and we'll probably keep this one going. small-scale style, that is.
yes. and then there's other good news. we'll record next week! yay! one or two songs or so for a pending split-seven inch. pending means: maybe we make the cut, maybe we don't. anyway, it's gonna be a fine 7" anyway, as our contender if you will is bit-tuner, beat producer of dani göldin. so, with or without us, rock'n'roll heroes dying in motion are gonna top either one with their fantastic song 'behind'. does it show I'm a fan? don't think so...
and there's still more news: we're about to write and record filmscore for an animated movie by fellow friend christian eberhard. that's quite an honour and this will be very interesting I suppose..
ok, that's it for now.
(song of the day: everything by 'life at these speeds') |
11-09-2005
sorry for not having played the promised gig last saturday. our drummer had to undergo an unexpected emergency surgery early saturday morning. he had to stay in hospital until monday, then most of the time laying in bed. final examination is this tuesday, which should be more of a routine thing. all three of us were bummed out on this, but there was medically and technically no way of plaing the show. sorry for turning up in vain, althoug I think MARGATE (the other band) did a extremely well job in entertainig you guys (and gals). we'll keep you posted with dates wehere we actually WILL play..
thanks for showing up and telling me "it sucks that you didn't play" we share that very thought. |

hello fellow friends.
I just found out about Rupert Murdoch having bought myspace.com in july. this makes us, who recently put up a profile there, not scene but lame-oes deluxe. being the head of News Corporation, mr. murdoch is responsible for the most irresponsible news-station existing: notoriously lying foxnews. for those not in the know: that's a neocon 24/7 news station that not only mutes renowned investigative journalists (that somehow apparently smelled the bacon too and wanted to cash in big. no excuses on this side either) when they find out about something murdoch is involved as well (watch the two well-made documentaries 'the corporation' and 'out-foxed' for more info..). even worse, they employ the biggest idiots of them all, mr. o'reilly and give this ultranational, imperialistic fascist moron a broadcast of his own, where he pukes out rightest-wing positions non stop. murdoch, being the greedy 'money counts above all' asswipe he is, supports that channel as good as possible, as he's of course interested in having weak or no worker's rights or other restrictions that could narrow his profits. so he buys and buys and buys new stations, radio or tv or satellite channels to get his message outthere, which is a classic neoliberal one. cut down states, open everything for the free market. the latest and overly tragic example for where this ideology leads, is the new orleans rescue/help organisation drama. needless to say , that we herewith stop to publish any data or anything else via myspace.com. apart from this very message here. sorry for not knowing this earlier. bye.

wow, we are so scene! we're on myspace now to. the link is http://www.myspace.com/rabbittheory
and there's a blog installed. I can't promise I'll update it more often than ths site, but you can check it out once in a while. as you alreday know, it comes with a flash player streaming some of our songs on it. byebye.
(record of the day: bear vs. shark "terrorhawk") |
25-07-2005
hey ho. we're about to record this october, which will hopefully result in an EP due to be out in late fall (think november). yeah. we of course will do it the d.i.y. way again, so if you should be a proud owner of very good microphones (stereo condensator mics, for example) you are willing to lend for a trade or a small fee or for free, please write us to therabbittheory (at) no-log.org. merci beaucoup.
(song of the day: the rocksteady crew 'hey you') |
06-07-2005
check the music site to find the latest song we wrote. it goes by the name of "where's your delorean now?" and it's about non-sustainable politics for the sake of shortterm profits. don't be surprised if there aren't any voices, it's an instrumental song. and yes: it c a n have a meaning in spite of lacking lyrics.
(song of the day: pendleton "there will come another")
|
05-07-2005
yo yo yo. sorry for not posting so long. we're busy working on new songs all the time. I'll upload some of the new stuff pretty soon. if everything works aôut as it should, we'll be recording an EP this summer. yeah yeah. we'll keep you posted, anyways.
(song of the day: kim wilde "keep me hanging on") |
16-05-2005
hello. back from lucerne, we want to say thank you who a) made it to one of the shows and b) gave us a try. you are cool beans. we got a fun little description by a tall stranger who is actually not that much of a stranger. check it out:
THE RABBIT THEORY are from zurich. Kind of really hard to describe and do their music justice. they sound nothing like fugazi, but they are more like them than DJ BOBO. If you get what i mean.
lol.
thanks alot, tall stranger. and extra thanks for having us and all.
another thank you goes out to stefan and fesch who set up the show in lucerne, which also turned out pretty good despite a torn string and only a handful of people in the audience, thanks to the supporting bands who played unbelievable 75 minute sets each. (!!) however, they were very nice people as far as we can tell and you should go and see them when they're around your town: especially tunica dartos they're both intelligent and ballsy with massive metal-riffs, overly frilly rokoko-drumming and boosty basslines. they also have a CD out, I guess. but you better check with their homepage. linked abouve. impressive.
pilot panda
(the other band, no homepage apparently) is rather heady. using two guitars often with lots of effects on them (sometimes even with a nasty chorus (!!)), an occasional glockenspiel, bass and very solid and impressingly reduced drumming they remind of giardini di miro, aloha and that sort of stuff. their sound is on the softer side of things, totally unnervous and in general pretty good but can also go on your nerves after a while, since it's pretty demanding. especially so, when played forever. so much for now. we have to go and watch our home team FCZ win the cup..
thanks again to whoever was involved with these two gigs. see you next saturaday in st.gallen.
(songs of the day: all on Honey For Petzi 'man's rage for black ham") |
09-05-2005
wohoo. review-time! check it out in its full grandezza and click here. our part sounds like this:
(from www. bandsmagazine.ch)
hehe. good, aye?
furthermore, you can check out our gold rings, massive cars and enormous cribs by taking a look at the new pics added to the pics-page
on a sidenote, let me colonize your record collection for once. I discovered this new band (you might already know them but I don't care anyways) you just HAVE to buy a record of. they're young, canadian and they rock: "shipping news" is their name, "flies the fileds" is their (first?) album's name and they're on legendary quarterstick records from chicago. if you like honey for petzi but also are a fond fan of isis, then you will most probably like this. it's intelligent with a raw and fuzzy edge. very nice band.
(song of the day: isolation years 'michael if you cannot row") |
19-04-2005
hey. there's a new date confirmed. we're playing st.gallen on the 21st of may to support the anti-wegweisungs-artikel-movement who are doing a great job opposing this very law. a law that's opening doors very easily for cops to impose total arbitrariness towards people of non-swiss descend and social outcasts. it delivers a foul stinking "it's the law"-excuse umbrella, under which they can more or less do whatever they want. for example, they're gooing to have the authority to keep you from standing in a certain district or street. (-> rayonverbot) and stuff like that. more details to follow. oh, and there's pictures of us on this site now, too. and the final mixes of our demosongs, too.
(song of the day: the good life 'inmates') |
25-03-2005
g'day. a new show has been added, as we are - surprise, surprise, got an offer to play kalkbreite again together with artsy no-waveish post-punk weirdoes exmodels. come and see!
(song of the day: the arcade fire 'rebellion') |
09-03-2005
hi there. a good week after our first gig at kalkbreite, we're still recovering. a good night, that was and our gig was quite ok, too, I guess. there was bootlegging going on, so I hope I'm gona post some live stuff here soon. recording the vocals is still a duty...if you should stumble aross a gig of kid ikarus, go and see them. an amazing band. from zurich. very nice fellows, too.
alright, you'll hear from us. (songs of the day: quicksand, 'head to wall' / the postal service, 'the district sleeps alone tonight' AND all of rilo kiley's songs) |
24-02-2005
yeah bbbooooy. put up some lyrics, as we decided to sing/scream ourselves until a decent person will relieve us from doing it, I thought it was only fair. there will be some merch as well in the near future. expect fun stuff. (song of the day: the weakerthans, reconstruction site) |
22-02-2005
