If you are interested in independent Hiphop, chances are that you have heard of these two guys. 2mex, an active member of groups like The Visionaries, The Mindclouders, Afterlife, The Shapeshifters and Of Mexican Descent, can definitively be called a workaholic in Hiphop. However, he’s not limited to just this format. He recently released a spoken word album „Words Not Music“ as well. His socio-critical lyrics often deal with what goes wrong in society and politics in general.
Jel, on the other hand, is a well known producer in the messy swamps of independent hiphop. He recorded beats for artists such as Deep Puddle Dynamics, Sole, Sage Francis and Themselves for Labels like Mush and Anticon (amongst others).
His album „10 Seconds“ which he released on Mush Records received very good critiques throughout the world of 'non-narrowminded' Hiphop.
On „D.I.Y. Partisan“, these two gifted young artists combine their skills for a 6 minute long song about the city they live in that truly is mindblowing. It is dissected by sharp views of a rather strange place. Musically "D.I.Y. Partisan" reminds the listener of a tryptichon, consisting of three completely independent parts. Nonetheless they are united by the strong flow and impressive voice of 2mex.To give this astonishing song a worthy form, it will be released on a 70gr heavy white vinyl 7inch single, that is handnumbered and limited to 420 pieces.
