"a part of it" (APOI) used to be a 4-piece from Zurich who played together for a little more than 3 years, before they split up due to different musical ambitions and massively diverging takes on life. they played shows in Zurich, Lucerne, Solothurn, Bern and some other places, too. they released three records in the time being. describing APOI's music is sort of difficult, but basically it's guitardriven indie. sometimes post-rock-ish, sometimes hardcore-ish, sometimes dancehall-ish, mostly very fragile and filigree.
thematically, APOI's songs mostly dealt with problems of the self and it's embedding in socitey.

"a part of it" arose 2001 from the ashes of hardcore band napking and meal and was then supplemented with some more members of defunct meal. in summer 2001, former bassplayer john left APOI and was replaced by jörg. that was the only line-up change until the band definitely split-up in summer 2004. APOI consisted of Peter (dr), Michi (g,v), Jörg (b), Nino (v,g).

  • "a part of it" was recorded 2002 and self-released on 40 tapes
  • "leave this blank" was recorded in spring 2003 and released by quiet records on 172 CD-Rs
  • "your sad company" was recorded live at bogen13 on 16 tracks and released by quiet records on 100 tapes

the members of APOI all continued to play in bands.
  • peter plays complicated hardcore in an unnamed drums/guitar-duo.
  • michi used to play in margate, but recently left and moved to lucerne. however, he found a new band whose name I don't know, I'm worried
  • jörg and nino play together in a screamo-ish band called "the rabbit theory" (see: other artists)

michi walser - g / vox
